Tym Stark’s Non-Residential Care - Day 82
Day 82 - Sunday 12/12/07
If you hadn’t noticed, the title has changed. Tym is no longer a residential care patient. He is now living at home (Jeremy’s home), and getting transportation to his therapy in Fullerton CA. His therapy is now only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with many exceptions due to the holidays and the fact that the center is changing locations.
As a result of all this hustle, along with getting ready for the Holidays, and my trip to Virginia, it has been difficult to have time to keep the blog updated. I hope you can forgive me. Here’s some pictures of what we got to do last weekend…
Motorcycle Show
Motorcycle Stunt Show
Boat Ride
We got to go to the International Motorcycle show in Long Beach. Tym enjoyed the show, and got to sit on many of the 2008 bikes. He thought the stunt guys were very good, but that they are “lucky idiots”. Later that night Tym’s best friend, Jesse, took us out for the boat parade and to check out the holiday decorations on his and his wife, Chris’, boat. Thank you for showing us around Naples. We all had a very good time.
Sunday Tym and his daughter Becca started some holiday shopping. Tym made a list of people he is shopping for, and started buying them gifts. Monday he started his new rehab. The format is much different than the residential rehab at Winways. As I mentioned, it’s 3 days per week, and it’s from 9am - 4pm. You have to provide your own transportation and lunch. The environment is more like a recreation center. There are only a handful of rehab patients, but they are much closer to Tym in age and injury than those in the other rehab centers. Tym visited OCTA Access on Tuesday, and they will contact us to see if he qualifies for transportation to and from his rehab.
Today was Tym’s first full day of rehab. He says he likes it overall, and thinks it’s beneficial. As usual, he can’t wait until he can get back to driving, and get to go home (Santa Maria). Thank you for your continued support! Have safe and fun Holidays!

Hi Tym and family-
We’re praying for you all as you navigate these changes in rehab, living, etc. We loved the pictures of Tym on the motorcycles! All in good time, Tym (LOL).
We sure missed having you at the retreat this past weekend at Forest Home. I (Debra) kept thinking about last year’s retreat, when we honored you and thanked you for all that you’ve done for so many of our group over the years. I sang “Make Me Like You” to close the retreat, and thought about how much you like that song. Let us know if you need another copy of my CD, so you can listen to it again!
We’re still praying for your full recovery, Tym, and are so thankful for the amazing progress you’ve made.
Joyfully,
Debra and Keith Vaughn

Hey Tym: Al Hunt in Lompoc here. As I noted months ago, I was one of the water stop guys on the Upper Loop at the Mission during the half. Glad to hear you are making progress.
Season’s greetings!

Tym,
That was such a familiar site to see you on a motorcycle. We used to worry about you because you rode FAST and CRAZY. Maybe you’ll be a little more careful and we won’t have to worry about that. We missed you at camp. Last year, Jim and I (Mary) had a special moving away time for you at our cabin with singing and everyone telling you how much you meant to them and what you have done for them. We ended your special moving time with “Friends are Friends Forever” by Michael W Smith. You loved it. We love you!

Oh, Tym…our favorite picture of you was with Jeremy working on the tool stuff. That made us smile. So did the pic of you on the motorcycle. Did you feel at home on the motorcycle and behind the workbench. You’ve spent a lot of time there in past. You look SO good! We can see your progress. Keep it up and keep up your faith. God will help you every step of the way. It’s hard but worth it!! READ!
Love, Jim and Mary

Glad to hear that Tym has progressed so far, so fast, so well, that he doesn’t need to be in a residential setting. He and all of you are in our thoughts this holiday season.
Merry Christmas!
